With a number of young and talented playmakers poised to lead the Terrapins through their final season in the ACC, excitement is building for the upcoming season and the future of football in College Park.
Sophomore wide receiver and all-purpose playmaker Stefon Diggs is ready to build on a breakout 2012 campaign in which he set the ACC freshman all-purpose yards record, while junior quarterback C.J. Brown gives the Terps a veteran presence who can make plays with his arm and legs.
The opportunity to watch players like Diggs and Brown, along with a Maryland home schedule that features ACC foes Virginia, Clemson, Syracuse and Boston College, in addition to non-conference clashes with Old Dominion and FIU, has helped the Terrapins sell 1,700 more tickets than last season.
And with an attractive and challenging Big Ten slate just a year away, Terp fans can lock in their season-ticket price for 2014 when purchasing season tickets for 2013. Maryland's first Big Ten schedule includes home games against Ohio State, Iowa, Michigan State and Rutgers. In 2015, the Terrapins will host Michigan, Wisconsin and Indiana while taking on Penn State at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.
For Mark Norwicz, a Maryland season ticket holder for more than 20 years, attending Terps’ football games is something he looks forward to each fall.
Norwicz's family and friends attend the football games each season, and many of them now have children who are either enrolled or who graduated from the University of Maryland. He enjoys the pre-game festivities, the football game, and of course, the excuse it gives him to meet up with old college friends. "It's an opportunity to reconnect with people that you otherwise wouldn't run into," Norwicz said. "It provides a great opportunity to maintain friendships and reconnect with people who have an interest in Maryland football."
As for the pregame festivities, Norwicz said: "Going there (Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium) for 20 years, you get to be pretty creative. We have an array of food and beverages before every game as we prepare to get ready to root for our Terps.”
We hope you can enjoy Maryland football with all of our many passionate Terp fans this season.
