GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior Christine Shimel shot a 233 (79-79-75) to tie for 22nd in her final appearance at the ACC Championships. The Kennett Square, Pa. native jumped ten spots in the final round as she carded her best round of the weekend (75) on Sunday.
The Maryland team finished eighth with a 944 (311-321-312) and two golfers in the top 30. Freshman Juliet Vongphoumy had the team’s third best finish with a 236 (76-80-80) tying for 31st.
Duke University opened up on its lead again today, winning the ACC Championship title shooting a 30-over 882 (293-292-297). The next best team was 24 strokes behind, As NC State carded a 906 (301-295-310) as a team. ACC Championship individual honors went to Brittany Altomare of Virginia. The Senior held onto her lead in the final round and finished the weekend with a four-over 217 (71-70-76).
Maryland will now await for potential selection to the NCAA Regional Championships running from May 9-11.
