Each week during the 2017-18 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is Linnea Gonzales of field hockey.
All-Big Ten First Team honoree Linnea Gonzales helped lead the Maryland field hockey team to its first Final Four since 2013 with both game-winning goals this weekend. Against No. 12 Wake Forest in the NCAA First Round in Durham, Gonzales scored in the 23rd minute to give Maryland a 1-0 lead. They won 2-0 behind a goal from Madison Maguire in the 55th minute.
In the NCAA Quarterfinals vs. No. 2 Duke Sunday, the Terrapins trailed twice, then scored two goals in the final seven minutes for the win. Gonzales scored the game-winner with 4:44 to play when she flipped in a pass from Lein Holsboer from the baseline.
Maryland (15-6) will play No. 3 Michigan (21-2) Friday at 4:45 p.m. in the NCAA Semifinals.
