COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Sophomore Bodil Keus of the 11th-ranked Maryland field hockey team was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week Monday for her first career weekly honor and first this year for the Terrapins (4-2).
First-year player Keus helped the Terps to a pair of dominant shutout victories on the weekend. She anchored the backline in an 8-0 rout of Towson Friday. In Sunday's 1-0 win over No. 9 Louisville, she scored the game's lone goal when she banged in a shot off a penalty corner in the 48th minute.
Keus and held the Cardinals to just eight shots and three penalty corners, as well as their first shutout of the year.
