COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Each week during the 2017-18 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week’s Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is Megan Whittle of the Maryland women's lacrosse team.
In wins over Princeton and Ohio State, Megan Whittle both tied and passed Maryland great Jen Adams for the all-time goals lead at Maryland. The tying goal came while down four goals at Princeton, starting a game-ending 7-2 run. The record breaking goal came early on in a 20-5 win over Ohio State, on a free position attempt.
Whittle currently has 56 goals in 2018, and now has 270 on her career, the fourth best mark in NCAA history, while only one goal behind Marsha Florio (Penn State, 1982-85) for third all-time.
Maryland is currently on a 12-game winning streak and stands at 4-0 in the Big Ten. The No. 3 Terps will face No. 15 Penn State on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex.
