COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The University of Maryland Athletics Department celebrated graduation with several senior student-athletes prior to next week's December Commencement. A reception was held at the president's suite in Tyser Tower at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium.
"For what we do in our business, this is the culmination," executive athletic director Damon Evans said. "Graduating from the University of Maryland is so special to you, but it is also special for us to help you along the way. You have excelled in the classroom and the field, and for that we are thankful. Sports ends for all of us at some point, but that degree you are about to get, no one can take that away from you."
A total of 19 student-athletes will graduate next week.
"Graduation means a lot," men's soccer senior Jake Rozhansky said. "This institution gave me a lot. It taught me lessons through my soccer and academics and I wouldn't change that for anything. I'm so glad I came here because it has made me a better person and it has prepared me for my future."
"When I think about my four years here, I just think about how the community and everyone around has been able to shape me into the confident person I am now," volleyball senior Hailey Murray said. "I'm really thankful that I'm able to graduate from the University of Maryland. I had a great experience academically, athletically and socially."
