COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Senior guard Ieshia Small led five Terps in double-digit points as the No. 15 Maryland women’s basketball team (8-2) easily worked past Mount St. Mary’s (1-7), 97-57, Wednesday evening in the XFINITY Center.
Small had 21 points while sophomore guard Kaila Charles, senior guard Kristen Confroy and sophomore forward Stephanie Jones each had 16. Sophomore guard Blair Watson added 13 points against the Mount.
The Terps opened the game with 15 straight points before creating a 37-6 lead at the end of the quarter. Charles finished the half with 15 points as the Terps took a 54-23 lead into halftime.
Maryland notched 12 points off turnovers in the third to push the advantage to 75-37. Small scored 10 in the final quarter while Aja Ellison grabbed five boards.
Charles was named to the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll Monday after averaging 18.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in the Terps' two wins last week.
Maryland is ranked No. 15 in the Associated Press poll and tied with Duke (6-2) for No. 14 in the USA Today Coaches poll.
