COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The ninth-ranked Maryland women's basketball team (21-3, 10-1) will play at Rutgers (18-8, 6-6) Sunday at 12 p.m. at The RAC in Piscataway, N.J.

Sunday’s matchup is the 36th all-time between Maryland and Rutgers. Maryland owns the series, 24-11 and won has won all five meetings since joining the league in 2014. The Terrapins won 88-60 in College Park on Feb. 1 behind 22 points from Kaila Charles, 20 from Eleanna Christinaki and 16 from Stephanie Jones. Kristen Confroy added 11 points. Brenda Frese is 5-1 vs. Rutgers in her career. Maryland is 7-6 at the RAC, including the last two.

The Terrapins are coming off of a 76-68 win at Michigan State Thursday. Charles led the way with 19 points, 11 rebounds. Confroy and Jones each scored 14 points. Christinaki added 11 points, nine rebounds, five steals and four assists. Freshman Channise Lewis scored 11 points as well.

Charles was named to the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll last Monday after averaging 23.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.0 blocks and shooting 69 percent from the field in wins over Rutgers and Nebraska last week.

Seven Terrapins are scoring over 9.5 points per game  - Kaila Charles (18.3), Blair Watson (13.8), Eleanna Christinaki (13.5), Stephanie Jones (11.5), Brianna Fraser (10.3), Kristen Confroy (10.0) and Ieshia Small (9.6). 

The Terrapins are currently ranked No. 3 in the country in three-point field goal percentage (.409), No. 5 in scoring margin (+21.7) and No. 7 in scoring (84.0). Confroy is No. 2 in the country and leads the Big Ten in three-point FG percentage (.475). Charles is No. 7 in the league in scoring and rebounding and No. 5 in field goal percentage. Lewis averages 5.2 assists, which is third in the Big Ten overall and No. 2 among freshmen around the country.

Charles has scored in double figures in 22 of 24 games this season. Confroy has played in 107 straight games, dating back to February of her freshman year. Confroy has made 197 career threes and moved to No. 2 on Maryland's all-time list in January. She  is also No. 3 in the Maryland record books in career three-point percentage (.406).

Defensively, the Terrapins have held four of the conference's top six scorers under their averages on the year and have yet to face off against the other two. Of the Terps' 10 conference teams faced, they've held eight opponents' leading scorers under their season scoring averages. Charles leads the Terrapins win 40 steals this year.
