Terps Host Annual Maryland Basketball Tip-Off Dinner

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Terrapin Club and the Maryland men's and women's basketball teams tipped off the 2017-18 season with the Maryland Basketball donor dinner Tuesday night at The Hotel at The University of Maryland.

The Terrapin men's and women's basketball coaches and student-athletes mingled with supporters and fans throughout the evening.

Head coaches Mark Turgeon and Brenda Frese talking about their upcoming seasons and each concluded by expressing their appreciation to the Terrapin Club Scholarship fund for their generous donations and unwavering support.

"What a great evening," Turgeon said. "The crowd gets bigger each and every year.  We sincerely thank you and appreciate all of your support and generosity for all of our student-athletes at the University of Maryland."

"Our team is in the midst of a great week of practice. We are working hard, I am just really excited with this group and looking forward to the start of the season."

Frese spoke to the hard working roster she has ready for this season.

"We are proud of the success and the consistency that we have had here," Frese said. "We have a lot of talented players who have been waiting for their opportunity to help this team. We had an invaluable experience this summer with representing our country and nothing we do would be possible without your support."

Men's basketball's Andrew Terrell interviewed Brianna Fraser, Kaila Charles, Ieshia Small, Jared Nickens, Anthony Cowan Jr. and Michal Cekovsky in a fun video to help supporters get to know the players off the court.

Johnny Holliday from the Maryland Sports Radio Network emceed Tuesday evening's program.

The Terrapin Club Scholarship Fund is the official support organization for Maryland Athletics.  The mission of the Terrapin Club Scholarship Fund is to generate private donations to fund the annual scholarship costs for Maryland's student-athletes.
