Terps Tie for Fourth at Quail Valley Invite

VERO BEACH, Fla. – The Maryland men's golf team tied for fourth out of 15 teams at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational Tuesday at the Quail Valley Golf Club in Vero Beach, Fla.

As a team, the Terrapins went 22 strokes under par with a score of 842 (280-281-281) and tied Notre Dame. They finished two strokes behind Louisville.

Junior Chris Navarro led Maryland with his score of 209 (70-70-69), which was seven-under par. Both his score of 209 and his third round score of 69 set new career lows as he tied for 13th.

Senior David Kocher tied for 15th with his score of 210 (76-65-69), which was -6 overall, which is his lowest score this year.

“Another solid week for our guys,” head coach Jason Rodenhaver said. “This makes two weeks in a row where all five guys counted towards our team score. We are really happy for Chris. This is by far his best performance as a Terp. It is also great to see David back on track. He has had a tough fall, but we are proud to see him bounce back this week.”

Sophomore Peter Knade tied for 21st with his five-under score of 211 (69-72-70). Juniors Timothy Colanta and Evan Santa both went three strokes over. Colanta shot his 219 with scores of 70-74-75. Santa earned his with scores of 71-75-73.

Next, the Terrapins will compete in Kiawah, S.C. Nov. 3-4.
