COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland junior forward Gordon Wild has signed a Generation adidas deal with Major League Soccer, the league announced Friday.

Generation adidas is a joint program between MLS and adidas in which a handful of the top collegiate underclassmen and select youth national team players are signed to MLS contracts and made available in the SuperDraft.

"I'm delighted for Gordon to fulfill his goal of playing professionally in MLS," head coach Sasho Cirovski said. "He's a proven attacking player and one of the best goalscorers in college soccer for the last three years. He was a little snake bit this year, but I know he will find the back of the net at the next level. He has been a valuable contributor to our team the past two seasons and I'm looking forward to watching him play in MLS."

Wild scored 38 goals in his three seasons as a college player, including 22 in two years at Maryland. Wild notched five tallies this season, along with two assists. Wild's best season in college came in 2016 when he was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year after scoring 17 goals and adding five assists. The Cologne, Germany native was named a MAC Hermann Trophy finalist.

Wild scored 16 goals and notched a pair of assists at USC Upstate in his debut season in 2015.

The 2017 MLS SuperDraft takes place on Jan. 19 in Philadelphia.
