COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland football team completed its fifth practice of the spring on Thursday and before the afternoon practice, Terps Head Coach DJ Durkin met with the media.
"We’ve had four really good practices leading up to today," said Durkin. "It’s going really well. Winter conditioning went really well for our guys. It’s been good the second year. I think our guys are much more comfortable in what we’re doing. They understand the expectations a little better.
"It’s allowed us to focus a little more on what we want to get done technique wise and fundamental wise as opposed to talking about a mentality and a culture and how we do things."
The Terps welcome back six starters on the offensive side of the ball and eight starters from the defense. Maryland also has eight early enrollees competing during spring drills.
"We have very good leadership from our upperclassmen as well as eight midyear guys that have just joined us," explained Durkin. "They’re learning things and doing a good job."
Maryland returns to the field on Saturday for its sixth spring practice. The spring season culminates on April 22 with the Red-White Spring Game, which is set to begin at 12:30 p.m. inside Maryland Stadium.
