Each week during the 2015-16 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week’s Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is Alexandra Lucki of the Maryland women’s cross country team.
COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Sophomore Alexandra Lucki has been named the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week following her first-place finish at the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday.
Lucki reached the finish line with an impressive time of just 21:50.6, leading the Terps to an overall team win. She completed the race more than 30 seconds before the second-place finisher.
The Gettysburg Invitational marked Lucki’s first career overall victory in a race. Additionally, it was Lucki’s second race this season finishing as the Terps top runner.
The Ontario, Canada native was one of seven Terps to place amongst the top-20 runners, including three of whom finished within the top-six. She is the first Terp to finish first in an event since the 2012 season.
Lucki and the rest of the women’s cross-country team will resume action on November 1st, when they travel to Evanston, Illinois for the Big Ten Championships.
