COLLEGE PARK, Md. - In its efforts to bring top-notch entertainment and attractions to the 17,950-seat Comcast Center, the University of Maryland has hired Global Spectrum, the fastest growing firm in the public assembly management field, to secure additional events for the 10-year-old campus facility.

“Now in our 10th season at Comcast Center, we see the potential to be the premier sports and entertainment facility in the Baltimore-Washington Region,” said University of Maryland director of athletics Kevin Anderson. “Global Spectrum has an outstanding reputation in the entertainment industry. They have all of the resources and the relationships to bring our campus and community entertaining non-sporting events to our terrific facility.”

Conveniently located off Interstate 95, just 30 miles south of Baltimore, MD, and 15 miles north of Washington, DC, the Comcast Center features an attached parking garage and thousands of neighboring spaces, making it an ideal, ‘must-play’ venue. With Global Spectrum’s assistance, the Comcast Center could quickly become the hottest facility in the Baltimore-Washington Region in which to showcase the nation’s premier musical acts and family attractions.

“The Comcast Center is a beautiful facility in a terrific location with a lot to offer many of the world’s top touring shows,” said Global Spectrum Chief Operating Officer John Page. “Utilizing our relationships within the concert industry and creating synergistic opportunities within our family of more than 115 public assembly facilities, we’re confident that we can deliver for the University.”

Global Spectrum operates more than 115 facilities throughout the United States, including one of the country’s highest grossing facilities, the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, PA. In addition, the Philadelphia-based company, which is a subsidiary of Comcast-Spectacor, manages 11 university facilities, including the 18,000-seat Colonial Center on the campus of University of South Carolina, the BankUnited Center on the campus of the University of Miami, the Ryan Center on the campus of the University ofRhode Island, the Ted Constant Convocation Center on the campus of Old Dominion University, Liacouras Center on the Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, and the Mullins Center on the campus of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Many of the world’s top musical acts perform in Global Spectrum-managed facilities, including the Rolling Stones, U2, Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Kanye West, Bon Jovi, Jay-Z, Aerosmith and numerous others.

Global Spectrum (global-spectrum.com) manages more than 115 other public assembly facilities around the world. Nearly 20-million people attended more than 11,000 events in Global Spectrum venues last year.
