Student Assistant Coach

Alma Mater:
Maryland '02 (May)

Molly Kauffman continues her family’s legacy at Maryland by joining her sister and the Terrapin squad as an assistant coach. Kauffman, having developed an interest in instructing, will both contribute to and learn from the Maryland coaching staff’s player development and game situation strategies.

Kauffman, a second team All-American in 2000, was a two-year captain and consummate team player throughout her career. After posting impressive numbers as a forward in 1998, the three-time Mid-Atlantic all-region selection anchored the Terp defense for two years, allowing only 1.1 goals on 5.8 shots per game. Kauffman and Maryland’s backfield posted nine shutouts a season ago, including five against NFHCA Top 20 opponents.

Kauffman finished her Terp career with 13 goals and 21 assists for 47 points, and three defensive saves. She plans to graduate in the spring of 2002 with a degree in elementary education.

Internationally, Kauffman served as a team captain of the 1999 U.S. Under-20 squad as it participated in the Four Nations Tournament in Piscataway, N.J. She also played with the U.S. Under-19 team in 1998.
