Field Hockey Upsets No. 1 Old Dominion 3-2 in Penalty Strokes

COLLEGE PARK, Md.-- Junior midfielder Jen Pratt (Greene, N.Y.) scored the deciding goal in the second series of penalty strokes, leading the fifth-ranked University of Maryland field hockey team (11-0) to a 3-2 win over top-ranked Old Dominion (10-1) at the Astroturf Facility tonight.

The score was tied at 2-2 at the end of regulation and neither team scored in the two 15 minute sudden death overtime periods. At the end of the first series of five penalty strokes, each team had scored on four chances. The Terps won the second series of five shots 3-1.

Senior forwards Nadine Bennett (Chegutu, Zimbabwe) and Lynsey McVicker (Balleymoney, Northern Ireland) each scored a goal for the Terps in regulation. Old Dominion countered with goals by Kim Miller and Heather Eastburn.
