Maryland Field Hockey Dominates Boston University

BOSTON, Mass. - Maryland's field hockey team easily tamed the Boston University Terriers 6-1.

BU opened the scoring at 32:33 with an unassisted goal by forward Jaclyn Mele, her first career goal. Mele's goal was the result of a kind rebound off the post that fell kindly for Mele, which she directed into the empty net. But that was all BU could muster by way of offense.

Maryland first tied the score midway through the first half when Lynsey McVicker scored from assists from Christine DeBow and Jennifer Pratt. Marloes Platzek then gave the Terrapins the lead for good with a goal from McVicker and Pratt assisting. Nadine Bennett then closed the scoring for the first half giving the Terrapins a 3-1 lead.

The second half belonged to Maryland's Carla Tagliente, who netted a natural hat trick to finish the scoring.

Maryland remains undefeated at 6-0, while the loss drops BU to 1-2.
