Terps Beat Ball State

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Senior forward Lynsey McVicker (Balleymoney, Northern Ireland) scored two goals and freshman forward Carla Tagliente (Cortland, N.Y.) scored a goal and had two assists, leading the University of Maryland field hockey team to a 5-1 victory over Ball State at the Astroturf Facility. The Terps improved their record to 2-0 on the year while Ball State's record fell to 1-1.

The Terps jumped out to a 3-0 half-time lead on goals by senior forward Nadine Bennett (Chegutu, Zimbabwe), Tagliente and junior midfielder Jennifer Pratt (Greene, N.Y.). McVicker scored both goals in the second half while Ball State senior midfielder Jen Brown scored the loan goal for the visiting Cardinals.

Maryland's next home game is Sunday, September 7 at home against Northwestern starting at noon.
