COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The top-seeded Maryland field hockey team (21-1) rallied to beat No. 5 Connecticut 3-1 Sunday to advance to the NCAA Semifinals, which will be played in College Park next Friday. The Huskies took an early 1-0 lead, but senior Katie O'Donnell dished three assists to give the Terrapins the win.

"Connecticut is a really strong team. We want to credit them for some great coaching, and some really athletic play. Their goaltender was very sharp, but to the Maryland team, incredible vigilance and conviction and a great response at halftime," head coach Missy Meharg said. "We have made it to College Park, and that has been one of our goals all season."

UConn's Jestine Angelini gave the Huskies the 1-0 lead in the 14th minute off of a corner setup from Kim Kryzk and Alicia Angelini. Eight minutes later, sophomore Megan Frazer sent in a hard shot from in front of the goal to tie it up before halftime.

Ten minutes into the second half, junior Jemma Buckley sent in the game-winner for the Terrapins. O'Donnell inserted on the play and sophomore Harriet Tibble stopped to earn assists.

With 12 and a half minutes remaining in the game, O'Donnell took the ball around midfield. Just outside the circle, she passed it up to freshman Jill Witmer, who was just in front of the goal for the score.

The Terrapins will play No. 7 Ohio State (18-4) Friday in the NCAA Semifinals. The Buckeyes beat fourth-seeded Syracuse 3-2 Sunday in overtime. Game time for the Terps and Buckeyes will be 2:00 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. and will be confirmed soon. ACC schools No. 3 Virginia and No. 2 North Carolina will meet in the other game Friday.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for seniors and students. To purchase tickets or for group ticket specials, please visit the Terrapin Ticket Office online at umterps.com or by calling 1-800-IM-A-TERP.
