COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Execution on offense was the name of the Terps' game as the Maryland field hockey squad (2-0) marked its second 9-1 victory in two games at the Artificial Turf Facility. The Terrapins, led by seniors Rachel Hiskins (Victoria, Australia) and Carla Tagliente (Cortland, N.Y.), topped Ohio (0-2), outshooting the Bobcats by a 31-7 margin. Hiskins led all scorers with a career-high four goals and an assist for a career-high nine total points, and Tagliente tallied her second consecutive hat trick while adding an assist. The four goals by Hiskins was one shy of the Maryland single-game record, while Tagliente's three goals marks her eighth career hat trick. With the victory, the Terps extended their school-record win streak to 24 games.

Maryland's first strike came only 1:23 after the opening whistle as junior Caroline Walter (Reilingen, Germany) scored the first of her two goals. Hiskins began her tear later in the first period, netting one goal after a Keli Smith (Selinsgrove, Pa.) feed and another from junior Dina Rizzo (Walpole, Mass.). After Tagliente's first goal of the game, the Bobcats recorded their lone tally on the day, when Lauren Mazziotto found Andrea Voros after a penalty corner situation to make the score 4-1 at the half.

Tagliente struck again at the 23:18 mark in the second stanza, beating several Ohio defenders for the unassisted goal. Walter rifled one in on a penalty corner at 15:08, with senior Lindsay Gorewitz (Rockville, Md.) making the stick stop and Hiskins assisting with the push. The assist was Gorewitz's second career point. Hiskins recorded goals number three and four on the day at the 9:27 and 6:00 marks, respectively. Tagliente's third score came with 0:00.9 on the clock, as the three-time All-American ripped a penalty stroke into the back of the cage.

The Terrapins are next in action when Old Dominion comes to College Park on Sun., Sept. 3 at 1 p.m. The perennial rival Monarchs have posted a 2-0 record as well in 2000, defeating Penn State and New Hampshire on the road. The Terps were 2-1 in meetings with the Monarchs last season.
