NORFOLK, Va. - Seven members of the sixth-ranked Maryland field hockey team were voted to the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association's All-Mid Atlantic Region Teams, released Thursday.
Frazer, the 2011 Honda Sports award recipient, is a four-time honoree on the All-Mid Atlantic Region Team and Tibble and Witmer have each been honored three times. Gerzabek, Fluharty and McEvoy have been named to the team twice and Sprink is a first-time honoree.
Maryland (18-5) will take on No. 2 Princeton (19-1) in the NCAA Semifinals Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Old Dominion's Powhatan Sports Complex in Norfolk, Va. The matchup will mark the Terrapins' 15th Final Four appearance under head coach Missy Meharg.
Friday's game will be shown live online for free at NCAA.com.
Maryland and Princeton met on Oct. 2 in the regular season up in New Jersey. The Terps led 2-1 at halftime, but goals by the Tigers in the 44th and 50th minutes gave Princeton the 3-2 win.
To lead the Terrapins to the Final Four for the fifth straight year, Frazer scored with 2:10 left for a 2-1 win at No. 4 Connecticut Sunday.
Maryland is 53-16 all-time in NCAA Tournament play for more tournament wins than any other school. They have advanced to 16 Final Fours overall and 15 under Meharg.
The Terps have won five of the last seven NCAA titles (2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2011) and have appeared in four straight NCAA title games.
The Terrapins entered the 2011 NCAA Tournament unseeded and welcomed third-seeded Syracuse, Iowa and Richmond to College Park for the First and Second Rounds. They would beat seeds 3, 2, 1 (Syracuse, Old Dominion, North Carolina) en route to their seventh national title under Meharg and eight overall.
