WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Maryland football team stepped off the team buses and carried its luggage inside the Mayflower Renaissance in Washington, D.C., on Monday afternoon as head coach Randy Edsall and the Terps kicked off bowl week with a welcome luncheon hosted by the Military Bowl.

After dropping off their belongings, the team made its way to the ballroom, but not before coach Edsall and select players met with the media. While a bowl game is a welcome reward for a season’s worth of hard work, Edsall knows there is still a game to win on Friday.

“That’s what a bowl is, it’s a reward,” Edsall said. “It’s a reward for what the kids accomplished during the regular season. But also you still have a game to play and you want to go out and win the game.”

Once inside, the team enjoyed a buffet and received some words of encouragement from Military Bowl officials including president and executive director of the Military Bowl Steve Beck, athletic director Kevin Anderson and Edsall.

The Terps will enjoy a dinner at Fogo de Chao Monday night before taking in a tour of the United States Capitol on Tuesday and hitting the practice field.

Maryland and Marshall kick off from Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md., at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. To purchase tickets, visit umterps.com.
