Hello Terps Fans:
Before I start to share some of our latest on-field accomplishments, I'd like to take the time to recognize a very special young man.
Many of you have read about Brenda Frese and Mark Thomas’ son, Tyler Thomas, and his brave fight with leukemia. Well, we have some outstanding news to share!
Tyler has completed chemotherapy! The entire Maryland family is so thrilled about this news. Tyler is a strong and brave young man and he is one of the biggest Terps fans I’ve ever met. We are so happy for him and his family. What a special gift before Christmas. Women’s basketball is 9-1 this year, but this is the biggest win so far!
We have an exciting month of December for our fans with a number of events to conclude the calendar year.
Our Terps’ men’s soccer team, led by head coach Sasho Cirvoski, advanced to the College Cup with a 2-1 win at California last weekend. The Terps have made eight College Cup appearances in the last 16 years, the most in the nation.
The Terps concluded our final season in the ACC by capturing their 24th ACC regular season championship in program history. Maryland followed by winning its second consecutive ACC championship with a 1-0 win over Virginia.
We will come full circle and meet eighth-ranked Virginia on Friday night at PPL Park in Philadelphia.
Come join us in Philadelphia for this exciting rivalry!
Are you ready for more football?
Maryland football, led by head coach Randy Edsall, was extended an invitation to play in the 2013 Military Bowl against Marshall on December 27 at 2:30 p.m. at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis.
This is an outstanding opportunity to support our student-athletes who have worked hard and are very deserving of participating in a bowl game.
We are excited that our student-athletes will get to play in front of their family and friends.
Your purchase of a ticket to the Military Bowl will directly benefit the USO.
There were many memorable moments as the Terps finished 7-5 this season. Included was an impressive shutout win over West Virginia, a win at Virginia Tech -- marking it the first road win in Blacksburg since 1949 -- and a victory at North Carolina State in our final ACC regular season game.
