Mansbach Leads Terps At Mount St. Mary's 5K Duals

EMMITSBURG, Md. – Freshman Hannah Mansbach finished seventh individually to lead two University of Maryland finishers in the top 10 as the Terrapins went 3-2 to finish third as a team Friday at the Mount St. Mary’s 5K Duals.

The meet, which opened the women’s cross country season for Maryland, features dual-meet scoring among all six schools participating.

The Terrapins defeated American (27-30), George Washington (25-35) and the host Mountaineers (23-38). Maryland lost 18-42 to Navy, which went 5-0 in dual scoring to win the team title, and lost 22-37 to Delaware.

Mansbach, making her collegiate debut in the meet, finished the 5-kilometer course in 18 minutes, 46.9 seconds. Senior Bridget Nolan was 10th for Maryland in 19:03.8.

Also placing in the top five for the Terrapins were Katie Nappi (22nd, 19:28.1), Maeve McCoy (33rd, 19:43.6) and Sydney Almeida (35th, 19:49.0).

Karrah O’Halloran (41st, 20:07.4) and Chardé Barnes (46th, 20:24.9) rounded out Maryland’s top seven.

Annie Norah Beveridge of Navy won the individual completion with a mark of 18:21.9, ahead of teammates Kelley Robinson (18:29.2) and Christina Blair (18:30.4). Navy placed four runners in the top nine to sweep the five dual meets.

The Terrapins compete next at the Salty Dog Invitational, hosted by Navy on Sept. 14.
