COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's soccer team saw its seven-game home non-conference win streak come to an end on Senior Day as No. 22 William & Mary downed the Terps, 1-0 at Ludwig Field on Sunday.
The Tribe's Jordan Krieger scored her team-high 12th goal to give William & Mary the 1-0 victory. Krieger took a pass from Janet Sury, who stole the ball from a Maryland defender and beat Terp keeper Riki-Ann Serrins (Mission Viejo, Calif.) in a one-on-one situation at the 55:56 mark.
Maryland had several opportunities to score late in the game including a shot by Audra Poulin (Silver Spring, Md.) with just 56 seconds left, but Tribe keeper Courtney Owen made her third save of the game to preserve the shutout.
The game marked the final home regular-season contest for four senior Terps: midfielder Terri Greer (Woodbridge, Va.), midfielder Vita McKenna (Burlington, Ontario), forward Julie Nelson (McLean, Va.) and Serrins. All four players were honored before the match during a ceremony.
With the loss, Maryland fell to 8-9-0 overall and finishes its regular-season at No. 2 North Carolina next Saturday afternoon in Chapel Hill, N.C. William & Mary improved to 13-4-0.
