Durham, N.C. - Junior goalkeeper Nikki Resnick made nine savesand allowed only one goal, a deflection off the left post, but that one goal was the difference in Maryland's 1-0 defeat at No. 6 Duke in Durham, N.C., Sunday afternoon.

The Blue Devils controlled the first half, outshooting the Terps 10-0, but it wasn't until the 41st minute that Duke found its way onto the scoreboard. Christie McDonald tallied her fourth goal of the season on a header off the left post from a cross by Carolyn Ford.

Maryland played a controlled game, but found itself pressing offensively in the second half. Freshman Kaila Sciascia had the Terps' best scoring chance in the 74th minute, but Blue Devil goalkeeper Allison Lipsher was there to make the save, her only one of the game.

The Terps, now 4-9-2 overall and 2-4-1 in the ACC, hosts Virginia Tech on Wednesday, October 19, at Ludwig Field in College Park. The game, which is set for a 6:00 p.m. start, is the first half of a women's and men's soccer doubleheader as the No. 12 Terrapin men's soccer team battles Virginia at 8:00 p.m.
