TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 20 Maryland women's soccer team fell 2-0 on Friday night to Florida State and will now face the Seminoles again in the first round of the 2001 ACC Tournament at Wake Forest next Thursday. The Terps finish the regular season at 10-5-2 and see their six-game unbeaten string ended at 5-0-1.

The ACC first round game is scheduled to kickoff at 12 noon at Spry Stadium. The other match-ups are as follows: No. 2 Virginia vs. No. 7 Duke at 2:30 p.m., No. 1 North Carolina vs. No. 8 NC State at 5:30 p.m. and No. 4 Clemson vs. No. 5 Wake Forest at 8 p.m.

Head coach Shannon Higgins-Cirovski is happy with the Terps' draw despite the loss. The match-up would have been the same for the Terps with a win, expect, they would have been the No. 3 seed and FSU would have been No. 6.

"Obviously, I would have liked the seeds to be other way wth us at three, but I like playing Florida State again," she said after the match. "We controlled the ball for much of the game on Friday and outshot them, 10-8, so that shows we played them hard. I though Katie Ludwig and Lindsay Niehaus had strong games for us."

Florida State (12-6-0, 4-3 ACC) jumped on top 1-0 in the 22nd minute as Amber Tollefson scored her fifth goal of the season off a pass from Maren Vik Edvardsen. Summer Corum was also credited with an assist on the goal.

The Seminoles built the lead to 2-0 in the 63rd minute as Cindy Schofield scored a pass from Tollefson beating Maryland keeper Ali Wolff.

The Terps outshot the Seminoles, 10-8, including 7-5 in the second half.

Wolff made three saves for the Terps and FSU keeper Kerry York, made one save for the win.
