COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior forward Keri Sarver scored two goals and had one assist and senior forward Emmy Harbo scored one goal and added one assist to lead Maryland to a 4-2 victory over No. 23 George Mason at Ludwig Field this afternoon. Sarver and Harbo are now tied for the all-time school lead with 48 career goals each.
Maryland improves to 4-3-0 and has won a season-high three consecutive games. George Mason, which had won six consecutive coming in to the game, falls to 6-2-0. George Mason is ranked No. 23 by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Sarver scored Maryland's first and fourth goals of the game. Her first came at the 32:06 mark as she beat Patriot goalkeeper Jaime Pagliarulo in a one-on-one breakaway. She added her second of the game at the 87:41 mark when she headed in a crossing pass from freshman forward Courtney Beirne. Sarver now has eight goals this season. That total ties her for the tenth best ever single-season total in school history.
Harbo scored at the 47:55 mark of the second half to give Maryland a 2-0 lead. Harbo had earlier assisted on Maryland's first goal of the game. Harbo has amassed 48 goals and 22 assists for 118 total career points, which puts her in 10th place in Atlantic Coast Conference history.
George Mason mounted a second half counter-attack that saw the Patriots pull to within one goal at 2-1 and 3-2. Freshman forward Katy Robertson and sophomore forward Jayme Beamer scored at the 53:55 and 80:19 marks, respectively.
Maryland goalkeeper Riki-Ann Serrins, who gained her fourth victory of the season, was credited with three saves. Jaime Pagliarulo was credited with fives saves.
Maryland continues its non-league schedule as it faces the University of Texas at the Colorado Invitational Friday.
