COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland women's soccer team kicks off its 2013 spring schedule on Friday, March 29 with a 7 p.m. match at Ludwig Field against Rutgers.
The Terps, who finished 14-7-2 in 2012 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament, return three of their top five scorers from last season, including All-Southeast Regional forward Hayley Brock.
Overall, Maryland returns eight starters from last season's squad, including five rising sophomores.
The Scarlet Knights finished 2012 with an overall record of 13-8-1 and also advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament. Rutgers is expected to be led by rising senior forward Jonelle Filigno, who led the team with 35 points on 15 goals and five assists and was a first team All-Big East selection.
Admission to Friday night's match is free.
