COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Head coach Cathy Reese has announced the 2014 schedule for the Maryland women’s lacrosse program as it embarks on its final season as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The Terps – winners of an unprecedented five consecutive ACC titles – will face a challenging slate, including a difficult road schedule which includes trips to conference rivals Duke and North Carolina. Maryland will play host to ACC newcomer Notre Dame in addition to Boston College, Virginia and Virginia Tech.

Maryland begins the campaign with a scrimmage against the USA National Team in Orlando, Fla., on Jan. 25. The Terps travel down the road to UMBC Feb. 13 to officially kick off the season before hosting Richmond Feb. 16 and Boston University Feb. 19.

A three-game road swing presents the Terps’ with their next challenge with trips to future Big Ten rival Penn State (2/22), Hofstra (2/25) and at Duke (3/1).

Maryland, which advanced to its fifth straight NCAA Final Four a year ago, then welcomes William & Mary for a midweek tilt on March 5 before traveling to Syracuse March 10.

The Terps return home for a contest against Notre Dame March 15 and then trek to Penn March 19 and James Madison March 22.

A two-game homestand in College Park will bring Towson (3/26) and Boston College (3/29) into town. The month of April will put the Terps on the road for games at North Carolina (4/5) and Princeton (4/9) before hosting Virginia (4/13) and Virginia Tech (4/19) to end the regular season.

The Terps will look to defend their league crown April 24-27 at Boston College.

The NCAA Tournament kicks off May 9 with first and second round action at campus sites. The championship culminates at Towson – the spot of Maryland’s last national title in 2010 – May 23-25.

“We are so excited to get the season started,” head coach Cathy Reese, who is entering her eighth season at the helm of the Terrapin program, said. “I think this schedule will provide our team with a lot of challenges and should also be entertaining for our fans.”

The Terps return seven starters from last season, including ACC Rookie of the Year Taylor Cummings.
