Women's Soccer Opens Season with 3-1 Win over Wright State

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The seventh-ranked Maryland women' s soccer team opened its season tonight by defeating Wright State (1-1) by a score of 3-1. Junior forward Keri Sarver led the Terps with her second career hat trick. Senior midfielder Michelle Salmon assisted Sarver on two of her goals.

Sophomore Taryn Jones put Wright State ahead early by scoring 3:32 into the game. The Terps retaliated thirty seconds later as Sarver scored her first goal off of a deflection. Sarver scored again 21:52 into the first half and 3:17 into the second half to seal the victory for the Terps.

Freshman goalkeeper Rikki-Ann Serrins recorded a save in her first career start for the Terps.

Maryland will resume their season on Thursday night, when they host 12th-ranked James Madison at Ludwig Field. The game will begin at 7:00.
