WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The No. 1 Maryland women's lacrosse team erupted for 13 goals in the first half in an 18-5 victory at William & Mary Wednesday.

Maryland (10-0, 3-0 ACC) finished its three-game road swing with a balanced at effort at William & Mary as 10 players notched goals for the Terps, led by Brooke Griffin who recorded five. Katie Schwarzmann added six points on three goals and three assists and Alex Aust posted a game-high four assists.

Once again, the Terps were able to get on the board early with a score from Halle Majorana 51 seconds into the game. Schwarzmann gave Maryland a 2-0 advantage four minutes later before William & Mary cut the Terps' lead in half with a goal at 23:30.

Maryland flexed its offensive muscle in a dominant six-minute stretch, registering six unanswered goals for a devastating 9-1 cushion with 17 minutes remaining in the first half. Griffin tallied a hat trick in the run and Schwarzmann posted two scores to aid the attack.

The Terps outscored the Tribe 4-2 in the final 10 minutes of the first stanza for a 10-goal lead and a running clock at the break.

Maryland continued its relentless pace with three more goals to kick off the second period giving the Terps a 16-3 advantage. The teams each recorded two goals during the final 13 minutes of play, including scores by Maryland reserves Bryn Boucher and Casey Pepperman, to cap the contest at 18-5.

During Maryland's longest away stretch of the year, the Terps held three opponents to a combined 13 goals and 32 shots. Maryland posted a massive 20-5 advantage in the draw control category Wednesday, led by four each from Beth Glaros and Taylor Cummings.

"It was great to see contributions from so many players today," head coach Cathy Reese said. "It was a solid team effort and we'll certainly use what we've learned from this long road trip as the season progresses."

Maryland plays five of its next six games at home, including its next match against James Madison Saturday at noon.
