COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Former Maryland Terrapin standout Sonia Judd will join the coaching staff as a volunteer assistant for the Terps in 2005. Judd was with the program last season as an undergraduate assistant.
She will work primarily with the attack as well as assist the staff with administrative duties.
Judd, who is also currently trying out for the Austrailian national team, was an All-American for the Terps as a senior in 2003. That season, she was second on the team in goals (49), assists (25) and points (74). She was also a first team All-ACC selection and earned All-ACC Tournament honors in helping lead the Terps to their fifth ACC title.
For her career, she scored 111 goals and had 55 assists for 166 points and was a member of two national championship teams.
"We are very excited to have Sonia involved in the program," head coach Cindy Timchal said. "She has a tremendous offensive mind and our team will benefit greatly from her knowledge. Sonia knows first-hand what we want to accomplish and how we want to accomplish it, and she does a good job of communicating with all of our athletes. We're happy to be able to have such a wonderful resource."
