COLLEGE PARK, MD - Maryland head coach Cindy Timchal announced the signing of two Maryland prepsters to National Letters of Intent. Julie Shank (Arnold, Md.) and Kristen Sudina (Baltimore, Md.) will join Timchal and the Terps next season.

Shank, sister of current Terp Becky Shank, heralds from Severna Park High School where she is a two-sport athlete, playing both lacrosse and field hockey. A three-year varsity letterwinner in lacrosse, Shank helped guide Severna Park to the 1997 4A state finals. She is a three-time honorable mention All-American in lacrosse, and also earned first team coaches' all-county three consecutive seasons. She was named the Quick Stix Rookie of the Year in 1996, and was named first team Baltimore and Washington All-Metro in 1997 and 1998.

Sudina, a product of Roland Park Country School, is also a multi-sport athlete, playing lacrosse and field hockey the past four years, while also playing soccer for the past three. Sudina helped guide Roland Park to a 22-0 record in 1998, and the No. 1 ranking in the state of Maryland, and in the U.S., by Lacrosse Magazine. A three-year starter at Roland Park, Sudina earned second team All-Baltimore City County in 1998. She also helped lead the field hockey team to a 21-0-2 record and the No. 1 ranking in Maryland. She, too, in field hockey earned second team All-Baltimore City County in 1997 and 1998, and was an AIS all-star in 1997.
