INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Maryland earned the top seed in the upcoming NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship, announced late Sunday night. The Terps will face Marist in the first round of the tournament next Saturday at noon at Ludwig Field.

Maryland (18-1) earned an automatic bid to the tournament after topping North Carolina to win its second-straight Atlantic Coast Conference championship.

The Terps will face Marist, who upset top-seeded Fairfield to win the MAAC title and garner its first berth to the NCAA Tournament in program history. This will be the first meeting between Maryland and the Red Foxes.

The NCAA Tournament bid is Maryland's nation-best 26th all-time. The Terps also sit atop NCAA Division I with a 39-16 record in the tournament in program history. This is the first time Maryland has garnered the No. 1 seed since 2001 which was also the last time the Terps brought home the title.
