University of Maryland senior Quinn Carney and Duke University sophomore Lauren Gallagher have earned ACC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week honors after leading their respective teams to wins over ACC opponents.
Carney, a senior midfielder from Flemington, N.J., scored seven goals and made three assists for a total of 10 points last week. On March 13, Carney led the Terrapins to an 8-7 win over No. 9 Virginia, scoring three goals and making two assists. With the win, Maryland claimed the ACC regular-season title. Against Brown on March 17, Carney contributed seven goals and three assists in the 20-4 win.
Gallagher, a sophomore from West Chester, Pa., tallied nine points on five goals and four assists last week. Against Vanderbilt on March 14, Gallagher scored three goals and made two assists in the 22-2 win. Against ACC rival and eighth-ranked North Carolina on March 15, Gallagher contributed two goals and two assists, including the game-winner with 14 seconds left. Gallagher's goal gave the Blue Devils a 10-9 win over the Tar Heels.
