BALTIMORE - After leading No. 1 Maryland to a win over No. 3 Duke Saturday, sophomore Katie Schwarzmann has been tabbed Player of the Week, announced Tuesday.

Schwarzmann recorded a team-high five goals, five ground balls, three draw controls, and two caused turnovers in the Terrapins' 18-11 win over the Blue Devils last weekend.

After a tightly-contested first half, Schwarzmann helped the Terps turn on the offensive firepower in the second stanza. The sophomore's impressive outing marked her third five-goal performance through only four games in 2011.

Schwarzmann, the 2010 Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year, continues to be one of Maryland's most prolific scoring threats, building on an impressive freshman campaign (33g, 11a). Schwarzmann and the top-ranked Terps will look to extend their record to 5-0 when they head to Virginia Friday.
