Women's Lacrosse Coach to Head National Team

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland head women's lacrosse coach Cindy Timchal has been selected as the head coach of the U.S. U-23 National Lacrosse Team, as announced by Denise Wescott, the Chair of the United States Women's Lacrosse Association selection committee. The U-23 squad is designed to support the growth not only of the United States program but also individuals who have shown promise in their lacrosse ability.

Timchal will walk the sidelines coaching 29 of the nation's top lacrosse players, including former Terp Jamie Brodsky, and current Terps Quinn Carney and Alex Kahoe.

Timchal has directed the Terrapins to the last four consecutive national championships, and owns a career record of 203-51 in her 17 years of coaching. Prior to her arrival in College Park, Timchal spent nine years at Northwestern. Timchal also directed Maryland to the 1992 national championship.
