COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Three former Maryland Terrapins earned Player of the Match recognition through the first four days of competition at the International Federation of Women's Lacrosse Association (IFWLA) World Cup in Annapolis. Australia's Jen Adams and Sonia Judd and the United States' Quinn Carney each were recognized for their individual performances for two of the top teams in pool play competition.
Adams earned the honor on Sunday, June 26, in a 7-7 tie against the United States after scoring a goal and three assists, including one to Judd with just 17 seconds remaining for the tie. On June 24, Judd netted five goals, including three of the game's first four, to help the Australians past Canada, 17-2. Carney three goals in the U.S.'s 13-5 win over England to earn Player of the Match honors.
Overall, 14 Maryland Terrapins representing three countries are participating in the World Cup. Pool play concludes on Monday, June 27, and elimination play will begin on Tuesday, June 28, at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium. For more information on the World Cup, visit www.uslacrosse.org.
