Women's Lacrosse Team Opens Season Against U.S. National Team

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The defending four-time national champion Maryland women's lacrosse team opens its 1999 season on Friday, Feb. 26, with a scrimmage against the United States National Team at 7 p.m. at Ludwig Field.

The game will be a homecoming for several members of the National Team. Nine players on the U.S. roster hail from the University of Maryland, including four-time All-American Kelly Amonte. Other former Terrapin players include Erin Brown, Laura Harmon Schuman, Theresa Ingram, Liz Downing, Jessica Wilk, Michele Uhlfelder, Maureen Scott and Dana Gwaltney.

Current Terps Christie Jenkins and Kristin Sommar are also members of the U.S. National Team but will wear the Maryland red when the two teams meet.

Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students and can be purchased in advance beginning Monday, Feb. 15.
