COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Four Maryland student-athletes earned All-America status by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association late Sunday night.

Karri Ellen Johnson, Iliana Sanza, and Katie Schwarzmann were named to the first team and Alex Aust garnered second-team honors.

Johnson netted her third first team All-America honor after rebounding from a tumultuous junior campaign. A four-time All-ACC honoree and four-time Tewaaraton nominee, the senior attacker finished her career second and fourth on Maryland's career goals and points list, respectively. The Annapolis, Md., native racked up a team-high 78 draw controls as a captain for the Terps in 2012. She was instrumental in leading Maryland to four straight ACC titles and four consecutive NCAA semifinal berths.

Sanza, the Terps' top defender and one of Maryland's three Tewaaraton nominees, helped the unit limit opponents to a mere 8.00 goals per game this season. The junior from Cockeysville, Md., tallied a team-high 46 ground balls and 33 caused turnovers in 2012. This is the latest in a flurry of honors for Sanza this season. She was also named ACC Defensive Player of the Year in early May and was also tabbed to the NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team.

The 2012 ACC Offensive Player of the Year and ACC Championship Most Valuable Player, Schwarzmann was named to the first team for the second straight year. The Tewaaraton finalist and Sykesville, Md., product led Maryland in goals and was second in points. She was also second in ground balls and draw controls. Her 72 goals in 2012 ranked fifth in Maryland single-season history. She was also named to the NCAA Championship All-Tournament last weekend.

Aust had a breakout season for the Terps while landing her first career All-America accolade. The junior from Sterling, Va., boasted a team-high 96 points and 51 assists in 2012. Her assist total in 2012 ranked third all-time in Terrapin single-season annals and her point tally ranked eighth. Aust established an ACC tournament record with 13 assists and 17 points during Maryland's three-game run to its fourth straight conference title.

The IWLCA will honor the national All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on June 16, 2012 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King Prussia, Pa. Players of the Year will be announced at the banquet.
