COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Following a pair of stellar performances in the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game Sunday, Laura Merrifield and Katie Gallagher each garnered national player of the week honors.

Merrifield was tabbed Player of the Week after scoring five goals in the title match against No. 4 North Carolina Sunday. She nabbed ACC Championship Most Valuable Player honors for her effort both offensively and defensively in leading top-ranked Maryland to its third consecutive league title.

Gallagher, who was named Synapse Sport Defensive Player of the Week, paced another great defensive showing from the Terps, limiting one of the nation's best offenses to only seven goals, including a mere on score in the second half. She tallied a game-high three ground balls and three caused turnovers en route to landing on the all-tournament team.

The Terps travel to Georgetown Thursday for a match against the Hoyas at 7 p.m.
