COLLEGE PARK, MD.-- - When Maryland's field hockey team takes the field on Sunday at 1:30 p.m., sophomore midfielder Megan Kelly (Gaithersburg, Md.) will be playing for her second national title in less then two years. How is that possible? Simple, Kelly spends her spring doubling as a midfielder on the five-time defending national champion women's lacrosse team.

Kelly, also a midfielder for Cindy Timchal's lacrosse squad, has already won a national title and three ACC titles (two field hockey, one lacrosse) in her young Terrapin career.

Last season for the women's lacrosse team, Kelly started all 21 games in the Terrapins' undefeated season. A large part of the Terps' unprecedented success, Kelly scored just one goal for Maryland last spring, but was an integral part of the championship run.

"It's just amazing when you think about what she's done," commented Timchal. "She's won a national title and three ACC titles and she's only a sophomore. She isn't just on both teams either, she's out there playing."

This season, Kelly's lone goal in field hockey came in the Terps' 6-0 victory over Lafayette College in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The team is now 23-1 heading into Sunday's championship game.
