North Carolina Advances To ACC Women's Lacrosse Final With 7-6 Win

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - North Carolina's Kristin Off scored three second-half goals including the game-winner with 3:54 remaining in regulation to lead the No. 1-seeded Tar Heels past No. 4-seeded Duke in the semifinals of the ACC women's lacrosse tournament at Ludwig Field on Saturday afternoon. North Carolina advances to Sunday's championship against the winner of Saturday's game between No. 2-seeded Maryland and No. 3-seeded Virginia.

North Carolina's record is now 10-4 while Duke is now 9-3. North Carolina entered the game ranked No. 6 and Duke No. 3 by the USWLA.

Off scored the game-winning goal on an assist from Julie Kickham. Kickham began the play as she cut towards from the right side of the field and fed Off who was in front of the net. Off received the pass and with a lightning quick flick of her stick sent the ball past Blue Devil goalie Shannon Chaney.

Off scored three goals in the second half to help North Carolina recover from a 5-3 halftime deficit. She scored three of the final four goals of the game including two unanswered in the final 5:18 to lift the Tar Heels to the victory. Off scored the Tar Heels' fourth, sixth (to tie the game at six) and seventh goals. Sophomore Erin McInnes also added one of her two goals on the day in the final 19 minutes in North Carolina's game-closing 4-0 run.

Duke seemed to be in command of the game with 25:34 reaming in the second half when sophomore Kelly Dirks scored to put the Blue Devils up, 6-3. Duke's Kate Kaiser and Lauren Gallagher scored two first half goals each to propel the Blue Devils to a 5-3 lead. Duke's offense was then shut-out for the final 25:34 of the game.
