College Park, Md. - The University of Maryland women's lacrosse team has set their fall ball schedule, which includes four tournaments, a single game against Virginia, and an alumni contest during the team's non-traditional season. The Terrapins are the six-time defending national champions heading into the 2001 season.
Maryland begins fall action at the Hopkins Tournament in Baltimore on Oct. 8. In addition to the host, Georgetown and American will also take part in the fall tournament. The fall ball slate continues at Georgetown for a tournament all day Saturday, Oct. 14, which includes host Georgetown, and local-rival George Mason. ACC rival Virginia heads to College Park on Oct. 17 for a 5 p.m. clash of the perennial national powerhouse teams.
On Oct. 21, Maryland takes the short Beltway journey to take part in the George Mason Tournament. Maryland's opponents will include the Canadian National Team, Hofstra, William & Mary and Syracuse. The Terps finish fall intercollegiate action by hosting the Maryland Cup on Oct. 29. Maryland will host such teams as Delaware, George Mason and the womenslacrosse.com team in the all day tournament before welcoming back their alumni on Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. for the annual alumni game.
