Each week during the 2013-14 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is senior Beth Glaros of the National Champion Maryland women’s lacrosse team.
COLLEGE PARK, Md. – As a young Terrapin fan growing up in Ellicott City, senior Beth Glaros couldn’t have dreamt of a better ending to her illustrious career at Maryland.
The senior captain capped her Terrapin tenure in style, scoring a game-high five goals to lead top-seeded Maryland to a 15-12 victory in front of a record crowd of 10,311 at Towson, including many, many Terp faithful.
Glaros grew up adoring everything Maryland Athletics and when the opportunity to attend her dream school and suit up for the top lacrosse program in the country arose, she didn’t think twice.
But after three previous unsuccessful trips to the Final Four, including a heart-wrenching triple overtime loss to North Carolina in 2013, Glaros was determined to leave College Park with the ultimate prize – a national championship.
Glaros netted five goals, two draw controls and two ground balls to lead Maryland to its first title since 2010 and its 12th overall. She ended the season with a career-high 53 goals and 67 draw controls en route to IWLCA Second Team All-America honors.
She was also named Inside Lacrosse National Player of the Week for her performance on Final Four weekend.
