On Gorman: One of three goalies on this year’s roster who could see playing time … a hard worker whose efforts paid off in the most significant playing time of her career a year ago … competed on her boy’s varsity team in high school since there was no girl’s squad … one of the team’s top scholar-athletes.

2002 (Junior): Saw action in nine games, starting three … had the team’s top save percentage as she stopped 50 percent of the shots against her (29 shots, 29 saves) … Terps did not lose in her three starts … posted a goals against average of 10.41 … posted a career-high 15 saves in a win over Brown (3/16), her first career start … 15 saves were most by a Terrapin goalie since Alex Kahoe stopped 16 against Georgetown in 2000 … made seven saves in her second start, a win over No. 9 Dartmouth (3/19) … made three saves versus just one goal allowed against top-ranked Georgetown.

2001 (Sophomore): Played in three games … made one save and did not allow any goals in 11 minutes of work ... save came in first career appearance, against then 19th-ranked UMBC (3/21).

2000 (Freshman): Did not see any game action as a freshman.

Prep: A four-year letterwinner for the boys’ varsity lacrosse team at Amsterdam (N.Y.) High School … her senior year, she received the team’s most dedicated award, was a team captain and earned honorable mention Capitol District High School Lacrosse League recognition (CDHSLL) … a second team All-CDHSLL selection as a junior … earned CDHSLL honorable mention status as a freshman and posted a single-game team record 26 saves, garnering the team award for outstanding defense … also lettered in tennis and soccer.

Personal: Cara Joyce Gorman was born on February 3, 1981 … is the daughter of Joyce and the late Gary Gorman … a psychology major … a member of MCJROTC, she achieved the rank of captain by her senior year in high school … was also active in the drama club and a member of her school’s marching band.
