Former All-American attacker Alex Aust has been named Director of Operations for the Maryland women’s lacrosse program.
Aust, a native of Sterling, Va., led Maryland to its fifth straight Atlantic Coast Conference championship and a fifth consecutive berth in the NCAA Final Four last season. Aust was tabbed a Tewaaraton finalist and IWLCA National Attacker of the Year as a senior in 2013.
“I’m so excited to be returning to Maryland after four years at such an amazing program,” Aust said. “These coaches make up the best staff in the country and I am thankful for the opportunity to learn from them.”
Aust finished her career ranked third in career assists (132) and sixth in points (275). Her 55 assists in 2013 are tied for second on Maryland’s single-season list and her senior year point total (125) ranks third. With seven assists against UMBC in 2013, Aust also owns the top single-game assist mark in Terrapin history.
“We are thrilled to add Alex to our staff this season,” head coach Cathy Reese said. “As an alum, she embraces and embodies the culture and expectations we have here at Maryland. Alex brings a wealth of energy and pride to our program and will be a great addition to our staff."
