COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland women's basketball great Alyssa Thomas was selected first overall in the WKBL Foreigner Draft Tuesday by KEB Hanabank, which is less than two miles north of Seoul.
Thomas' season in Korea will start at the beginning of November and ends in March. Each team in the WKBL can have up to two foreign players on the roster, but only one can be on the court at any given time in a game.
Thomas has started in 20 of 26 games for the Connecticut Sun this summer and is averaging 8.9 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per contest.
