A senior in her second year with Maryland since transferring from Independence JC in Kansas, Harrell will use her great shooting touch and outstanding back-to-the-basket ability to give the Terps a very formidable inside game this season ... a good ball handler for her size, Harrell is soft-spoken and plays her heart out.
A transfer from Independence JC ... scored a career-high 16 points against Coppin State on Dec. 12 ... recorded five double-doubles, including three times in ACC play: at North Carolina, vs. No. 18/23 Clemson and at Wake Forest ... career-high 12 rebounds came in the double-double outing against Clemson ... started six games ... had nine double-doubles for Maryland … her career-high five steals came against NC State in the ACC Tournament on March 3 ... went 7-of-9 from the free throw line in the Terps’ game against No. 11/13 Penn State ... averaged 5.4 rpg, third most on the Terps’ lineup ... the tallest Terp at 6-4.
Averaged 12 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots per game at Independence JC ... was a 1998 Nike All-American … named Washington Post third-team All-Met after her senior season at Oxon Hill High School ... former AAU teammate of current Terps Rosita Melbourne and Deedee Warley.
